Hand writing 'Practicum' on a green chalkboard.

CALM has a long history of working with Assessment Practicum students, including hundreds of students who have gone on to GREAT internship sites, including the NAVY and IVY League colleges.

Anyone who knows CALM knows that you will leave practicum with more interpretive reports and tests than virtually any other site. You will know a variety of tests which will make you HIGHLY competitive for an internship.

Less well-known is how hard we have worked to reduce the “busy work” associated with assessment. This includes tools to produce a first draft of daily notes, which can then be utilized in the final reports, as well as tools to quickly score self-reports. In addition, we make being supportive a priority.

We know this process can be intense, and we want to help you be the best psychologist you can be!

Your Schedule: The Clinic is open five days a week from 8 am to 5 pm. We have 3 “blocks” of testing per day. You will be required to work 3 to 4 blocks a week, have one hour of individual supervision, and everyone is required to come to group supervision from noon to 2 pm on Monday.

You will submit your preferences to our office managers, Claire and Mercey, who will then do their best to fulfill your requests. Please note, that they DO try their best, but depending on the number of students, student requests, and provider schedules, we cannot make guarantees.

The Clients: CALM started because Dr. Johnson recognized that ADHD assessment was not being taken seriously by the field or by the medical establishment. As such, typical clients do have significant attentional issues; however, as time has passed and we have grown as a clinic, we have also become well-known for being able to handle complex cases. Clinicians refer their clients, and often come themselves, when they want the most in-depth information. We work with clients who have Blue Cross Blue Shield, straight medical assistance, and out-of-pocket clients. Together, this gives a diverse clientele.

Supervision: Students will have ample time for supervision. This includes a session of individual supervision and a session of group supervision. You will have a primary supervisor, but we allow and encourage you to talk with other providers as each of us has unique strengths — and even some weaknesses.

If you think CALM is for you, please explore our website or reach out to Claire@calm.us or Mercey@calm.us for further information or possible students they can contact about their experience.
